Imogene Ione Murray

Imogene Ione Murray (Wilson) 93 of Phoenix Az formerly of Indianola IL passed away at 7:00pm on August 17th, 2021, at home surrounded by family.  She was born 01-02-1928 at home in Gary Indiana the daughter of Francis Marion Wilson & Mini Thelma Wilson (Workman). Imogene married Harold Murray July 16, 1946, in Danville IL. Where they raised seven children and were happily married over 60 years.

She is survived by two children Daughters Frances Kay Murray – Wenz (Spouse David) of Phoenix Az. Ruth Ann Murray – James (Spouse David) Twenty plus grandchildren, 16 plus great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, Sister-in-law Ruby Martin (Denny Martin) countless nieces & nephews.

She proceeded in death by her Husband Harold Dean Murray, her parents Francis & Mini Wilson, 5 Children George Allen Murray, Darold Gene Murray, Dale Everette Murray, Daughters Rebecca Ione Britton and Thelma Irene Mercer, Brother Maron (Pat) Wilson, sisters including her twin Irene Amlett, Eva Erp, Margery Tarpley. She has also last numerous nieces, nephews & grandchildren.

Imogene was a loving & devoted wife, mother, grandmother. She enjoyed being with family & gave her all to whomever she loved.

Imogene was a devoted Christian with more faith than anyone I’ve met, except my dad. Because of her faith she was able to endure all of life’s difficult times and all the losses. She loved praising the Lord through song & music. A gospel singer, song writer, recording a cd , spending most of her life as an Evangelists wife singing and playing music where ever they went. 1980’s on they enjoyed holding Gospel singing in and around Danville IL. She loved people, never met a stranger, she treated everyone as a family.

God gifted her with the ability to play a sing. Instruments she played included piano, organ, accordion & base guitar. She loved the Lord even though she lost 5 children her parents and as she would say “The only man she ever had’ Harold her soulmate husband of over 60 years she never lost her faith.

When asked how she made it through it all she would simply say “I handed over to God” and always trusted in him to get through.

Rruth James Mom you have so much Love and Faith I can still feel you here. I know you've gone home and are in Daddys arms again and in Gods hands but the Love of Life and of God you've given us will be passed on for generations. I miss you so much already. You were also my best friend but I know you would want us to celebrate your Life and not Mourn your death here on earth. That's going to be the hard one but I am trying. Love Forever and Always your daughter Ruth Ann James

Shalay Benavides Love you Aunt Imy. I know you are happy now. You are in heaven with Uncle Harold and reunited with all your family you’ve missed for so long. Instead of being sad I know you would want everyone to rejoice for you for the wonderful life you lived walking in GODs path. Thank you for showing me the way when I was growing up. You are such a beautiful person, inside and out with such a big heart & so heavenly in such a horrible world we live in. You were like Heaven on earth being in your presence. We are blessed to have you here on earth as long as GOD had you here with us. Now his Angel is where she is meant to be. Enjoy heaven and I can’t wait to see you when I get there! Love, Your Great-Niece

Lindy Abts What a truly beautiful person inside and out. I am truly sorry for your loss. However, am also truly blessed to have had the honor of caring for her over the last several months. Always had a kind word to say and truly loved and was loved by all those who had the honor of being part of her life. She will truly be missed but never ever forgotten
