Duane "Wolf" Nowlin

September 12, 1959 - February 25, 2022

Duane Lamont “Wolf” Nowlin was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 11, 1959. His official birth document was recorded as September 12, 1959.  This was the sign that his spirit was so big that he needed two days to honor his arrival into the world. He was born to proud parents Robert Nowlin and Bertha Bass Nowlin, who preceded him in death. He was the third of four children.

Duane attended Franklin D. Roosevelt Junior High, where he earned the nickname “Wolf”, and Glenville High School. At an early age he developed a love for music and entertainment. His first instruments were his mother’s pots and pans being used as drums before getting his first real drum set. He was a very gifted musician and he taught himself how to play many instruments including guitars and keyboards. Duane's keen ear for music granted him the ability to listen to any song from any genre and teach himself how to play it, as well as many students over the years. He has written and recorded many original tracks. In Northeast Ohio he was involved in many musical groups during his career such as gospel groups: The Bright Clouds, The Golden Echos and The Mighty Clouds of Joy. He was with many R & B groups such as The Deltones, The International Players, Rod “C” and The Triple Treat. Duane had the pleasure of playing drums on tour with Dennis Edwards of The Temptations, The Rude Boys and Levert. The last group he was a member of until his final days was The Old Skool Players who he played with for over 20 years. Duane was always ready to uplift everyone possible with his music, therefore he also played for several churches such as Springfield Missionary Baptist Church and Liverpool Missionary Baptist Church. He was very devoted to serving in his home church, United Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

Duane is survived by his two children, one son Juneyonto (Monique) Johnson, and one daughter Dianna Fulford, one brother Robert “Spinky” Nowlin, two sisters Sheryl Tucker and Lisa Nowlin, one granddaughter and one grandson along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
